The Wordless Story (An homage to the Koan)

The Wordless Story (An homage to the Koan)

[NOTE: If you truly desire more,
first empty your cup
so that it won't overfill]

Frightened by enlightenment,
the unlearned never leap
All enlightenment really is…
is when the tired sleep

It's when the hungered finally
have decided they will eat
It's when the sour bitterly
is seen as something sweet

Every man's a wise man
is what the wisest see
Every good is soon a bad
until it's good eventually

This'll pass, it is so,
stung upon the hand
by a drowning scorpion
the man had tried to save

Drowned again, still again
he saved the scorpion…
Stung upon the hand again,
his friend would question him:

"Nature has intended him
to sting your saving hand…"
"Well, nature has intended me
to save", replied the man

This'll pass, it is so, and
we will surely see…
echoed from the throat of
one accused improperly

This'll pass, it is so; those
opposed eventually
begged to be forgiven
unappellantly

This'll pass, it is so,
said the man forgivingly
This'll pass, it is so, and
we will surely see

Frightened by enlightenment,
the unlearned never reap
the benefits of having hunger or
the need to have to sleep…
